Day 26, Monday, June 14

Mondays are Lucky’s Chemo days. We finished our first cycle of 4 last week and today we needed to begin our next as v-c-v-a-off - this is the Wisconsin protocol that Dr. Walker told me we needed to follow. V is a shot and medium strength, C is oral and a little less, then back to V and then the big load A which packs a big punch and requires the next week off which was last week. We found an incredible vet in Chattanooga at Animal Emergency & Specialty Center who was helped us with the V in our second cycle. First they test for white blood cell counts and platelets - check, then physical - check, administer chemo. The technicians and Dr. Miller were awesome - leaving us with full instructions for post treatment, oral meds for next week and helping us locate the next V treatment in Nashville with someone they trust. Lucky is doing great with your help, Thank you!

After the visit, Chris and I did laundry, shopped, filled water, fuel and headed back to where we left off - 60 miles Northeast of Chattanooga. We travelled back in time as the zone went from East to Central and at 1pm CST, I decided to roll a few miles off. After 3 miles we had big decision to make as we headed towards Mcminville TN - take the road which is a 2 lane no shoulder road or try the off road route that the bike app recommends but Google Maps doesn’t recommend. We will have plenty of empty highway so we chose the off road path. We are 6 miles deep and the RV cannot proceed any further so in the middle of Savage Gulf State Natural Area with almost no signal, 30,845 acres of forest - we are lost for the night boondocking in the wilderness. Chris grilled 30 day aged steaks with mashed and broccoli with humus, salami, blue cheese and fig cracker as apps we are stuffed and happy!

Tomorrow is a huge day as Chris goes back to road and I will head into the wilderness for 14 miles with the plan to emerge on the other side and meet in a small town called Irvine College which has only one establishment - Irvine College Baptist Church. With no signal we have talked through contingencies and we are ready. Planning to have Lucky escort me out but we will see how he is faring with the chemo.

All for now - I am unable to load any videos or many pictures of the day so will load tomorrow.

Thank you for the support -

Cheers,

David.
