Monday, August 23

Monday is our Lucky day - at least it has been so far. The last few days have been difficult with 40+mph headwinds over the South Pass and even with 36 miles yesterday, we didn’t make Farson as planned. Therefore, we kicked off early to knock out the 13 miles to Farson, jump in the RV for a finance call and head about an hour to North Rock Springs for Lucky’s appointment. If I move to North Rock Springs, I’m definitely becoming a vet - horses, dogs, cats, you name it they were full on with patients and they were kind enough to see me whenever I got there. The blood work came back with mixed results and they were sent off to Colorado State to advise. Although Lucky was energetic this morning for the 13 miles, he has not eaten since and seems low on energy.

In addition to Lucky’s health issues, Chris had a scare with a pain in the back of his knee. Fearing it could be a clot, he went to Urgent Care where they sent him for an Ultra sound to another clinic. Chris was fearing a leg amputation by the time he got back for the results but happily learned it is a minor issue and needs to take aspirin to make it go away. He hooped and hollered when he learned the news and we celebrated with an authentic Mexican meal at Casa Chavez in Rock Springs.

In addition to all the medical tending, we did laundry, cleaned, shopped….all the Monday catch up chores.

We begin a 6 day journey tomorrow towards Salt Lake City 215 miles away. I just learned that Bob Becker is flying in on Friday to join on the last 2 days and Caroline will at least join us for dinner when we arrive on Sunday. Hoping Lisa will be able to make it as well. It will be a party!

All for today -

Cheers,

David.

P.S. Chris added more pictures to his blog if interested
