Day 99 - Tuesday, September 7

I left the RV park this morning at 3:10 AM, but 100 yards later my iPhone showed 4:12 AM because we literally camped on the time zone. The iPhone was having fits going back and forth as I went from PST to MST and then back again and just for fun I jumped back and forth again!

A few miles down the road, under a moonless, starry sky I became overwhelmed with emotion. I have been working on a Lucky Story and the ending came to me in a flash and then I wept openly for him one last time… I will always be amazed at how lucky I am and I hope to share this story soon.

So many big happenings today which I will let the media do the talking but the big one - we said goodbye to the great state of Utah and crossed into Nevada and Pacific time.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Cheers,

David.

The other direction - Border Inn to Hinckley is 88 miles which we just came from, 78 miles in 2 days and the last 10 this morning.

An unfiltered picture this morning of the sunrise

Officially crossing into Nevada!

Coming off the desert floor where there is only scrub, I began ascending the pass and finding more and more vegetation. I even ran through groves of cottonwood trees

So many Juniper and Cedar trees on the mountainside above 6,000’. On one in the middle of the forest I found a sign that claimed mining rights.

The forest of trees provided welcome shade on a 100+ degree day in the desert

Once I crested the original pass, the trail hugged the spine of the range and went over and then down to a new desert valley

On the other side of the mountains I descended into Baker NV where there is said to be gold in them hills. I found this roof on the trail and realized it was a structure built into the stone but abandoned.

The entrance to the hut

And the back room

Chris told me to look for the windmills and somewhere on the way down I finally saw them. We are boon-docking in the field of windmills tonight!
