Day 25 - Sunday, June 13

We woke up today after a night of “boondocking” in the woods. I’ve never been anywhere near an RV before but have learned that staying in an RV park is typical because you have water, power, sewer, WiFi and cable hookups. We have been dropping anchor where ever we can with none of the above. I like it because we don’t have neighbors and end up in interesting places like we did last night - middle of the woods. This type of plan requires Chris to continually make sure the RV is topped off w those essentials or we will be in trouble - and so far he has been perfect.

Lucky and I left the rig and headed back onto the trail before descending from 2,220 feet down to Dunlap at 600 feet where we met Chris 12 miles from the start for a quick break. I noticed Lucky limping a bit on his left paw so we loaded him up into the RV and he took his copilot seat next to Chris happily.

I began to experience more shin pain so I took another break and then finished off the day climbing back up to 2,220 ft and a plateau we will follow for the next few days - hopefully I’ll feel better than today with another nights sleep and the detour we will need to take tomorrow.

At 9:30am tomorrow we need to meet an oncology vet in Chatanooga to give Lucky his next round of chemo. Chris and I will go backwards to do this and then drive back to where we left off. No telling how long it will take but we are hoping I can get in a few miles in the afternoon which will help in my shin management. Fingers crossed Lucky’s treatment goes according to plan…

Finally, many of you have been asking me about Chris so here is a quick get to know you interview for anyone interested.

Thank you for the support -

Cheers,

David.
