Day 47 - Wednesday, July 7
After dinner last night we collapsed the table in the booth and set up Bob’s bed. He pointed out that the width of 5’6” is a perfect fit for him and if it had a lid it would make a perfect sized coffin! Three grown men sleeping in a small space would not typically be favorable sleeping conditions but with the cranking of the generator and a/c as white noise, we all slept soundly for a few hours until the carousel of having to pea began around midnight.
Bob, Lucky and I launched from Vienna MO and we headed directly west towards Lake of Ozark. The country roads were spectacular. Beginning with paved that led to gravel roads that rolled through farmland in the most rural and remote area. We saw no one all day except for Lawerence, a retired farmer, working his garden. He waved at Bob and I and thus we approached him to chat about the area. His happiness and smile were infectious as we left with smiles on our faces - he was kind enough to talk with us on camera. I asked if he wanted to follow the blog afterwards and he told us he does not have internet.
We met up with Chris at a broken down bridge and we contemplated trying to get the rig across by driving through the stream…happy we thought twice and Chris, after dipping in the stream with Lucky, doubled back and drover to the other side.
With Lucky done for the day - he was a little tired after chemo yesterday - Bob and I decided to go the last 13 miles to the end and got caught a bit with too little water. Bob suffered from dehydration as a result but somehow was able to make the 6 x 25 push ups i do the last 6 miles of every day.
Chris grilled bison burgers with feta, olives, garlic, red onion then added kimchee on top with brioche bun. On the side we had all the farmers market vegetables which made a great salad. With 2 beers, Bob was fully recharged!
All hanging out a bit before lights out at 8pm so we can get early start as we make our way to the lake tomorrow. Everyone loved the show called Ozark so of course we are excited!
All for now - thank you for your support.
Cheers,
David.
