Day 93 - Wednesday, September 1

We pulled off a big logistics day with the help of friends, General RV and some luck…

I started out at 5:45am leaving our Airbnb in Cottonwood Heights SLC and ran towards Caroline who was roughly 5 miles south of me which was right on the route to General RV where I had a 9:30am appointment to pick up the rig. Caroline took me off road through a canyon and put a hurting on me with her brisk walking and running pace! I had to laugh when on a back trail I told her there was a sign “Trail Closed” and she immediately responded “Good, lets take it!” She was also kind enough to lend us her Jeep so Chris was able to ferry all our clothes and kitchen items from the Airbnb to General RV where we met up at 9:30am. General RV in Salt Lake City did a great job pulling together the water compartment door, fixing up 2 other new collisions and the awning which they told me just arrived yesterday. I spoke to the GM to let him know that Chris & Natalia were awesome to work with.

I left General RV at 10:30am and headed south clearing the mountain range that surrounds Salt Lake City and then arrived at the base of Mt Timpanogos which rises to almost 12,000 feet and overlooks Lehi UT and Lake Utah. I ran to the west of Lake Utah which is roughly 24 miles long and is a shallow freshwater lake. Along the lake there are numerous communities and Mormon churches in each of them. Lots of families, nice houses - looks like really nice place to live.

Our day ended with another act of kindness as we couldn’t find a place to stay. We were near the Talon Springs Golf Club right on Lake Utah and I walked in and met Jackson at the Pro Shop. I explained our situation and he immediately smiled and told me to stay in the parking lot! We chatted a bit and leaned he is looking to homestead in Arizona and wants to buy an RV one day for himself - he is under 21 but you couldn’t tell with his facial hair.

Tomorrow we head to Eureka, UT and get one day closer to Highway 50…

Thank you for your ongoing support -

Cheers,

David.
