Day 10 - January 14 RACE DAY 2

Our hope of going further than we’ve ever gone before on day one and finding a nice Posada was a pipe dream. We arrived and it was a New York railroad style room complex were each room held 2 to 5 people and you had to walk through one room to get to the others. Even though we arrived at 3 AM and Aimee went to bed four people were coming and going and especially with Amy a cowboy was interested in her and kept coming over to her bed touching her shoulder and trying to talk to her, it was creepy. The John and I were fast asleep and I had no idea until the next morning.

With a few hours sleep our bodies resets and even though we were tired we were ready for the day. There was no clouds in the sky as we left at 8:30 in the morning and soon it became extremely hot and humid and tough going for all of us. I felt like we were just slogging along not making much progress as the day were on.

I felt like we were just slogging along not making much progress as the day were on.

On one hand most athletes would just go through the night and then crash after they finish, in our case we have to wake up the next morning and go to the furthest and highest we’ve gone on the Camino the next day so we must take every day and recover in the evening or else our Camino chip will be dashed.

I have a few blisters from all the rain that developed and John’s feet for a mess. Luckily at our last town the ambulance dressed all of our blisters and we are on the move again

We just left the town of Tocos do Moji after cheeseburgers fries and Coke. The townThe townWhich is about 62K from the finish. Our goal is to go another 22K tonight and it is right now midnight so we plan to arrive in the next town of Esteva by 4 AM so that we can take a quick shower nap recover and then head out tomorrow at 7:30 AM with plenty of time to spare to finish before the 7 PM cut off.

We are all dealing with an assortment of foot issues and fatigue but the team is working great together and optimism abounds with every step as we get closer to the finish.
