Day 117 - Saturday, September 25

There were a lot of “lasts” happening today. Starting with last night, it was our last ice cream binge and the last night I sleep in the Rv as I will sleep in Mill Valley tonight then at The Pelican Inn tomorrow night after finishing at Muir Beach.

This morning was the last breakfast aboard the RV at 4am and then Matt took an Uber to a dark canyon road and knocked on the RV door when upon opening he claimed, “this is really sketchy.”

Our route today was 25 miles to Mill Valley and it was a celebration run in to Mill Valley with Matt, Lisa and Chris. I enjoyed Chris’ last 10k second breakfast around 9:15am after 17 miles and then the victory lap of the last 8 miles ensued into the bike paths of Mill Valley.

Brother Dan met me at a distance for 5 miles and then I saw my family at our apartment and I finally felt confident that I could claim “mission accomplished”.

Tomorrow Monica and I make the last 6 mile trek to Muir Beach and touch the other ocean 117 days after we left the Atlantic Ocean. I have been focused on achieving this goal for so many days that I haven’t let my mind wander as to the significance of the event or what it really means to me. I am sure once I finish, it will all start to sink in.

I appreciate your support -

Cheers,

David.
