All Systems Go?
It has been a frenetic lead up to this year’s event. Yes, Amy and I have completed the different branches of the trail 3x but this year feels that the unknown outweigh the confidence of the completions in the past.
On New Year’s Eve we met with our friends to celebrate - 5 couples, all vaxed - and enjoyed our hosts making of her specialty masterpieces - paella. Wonderful evening and safely home things seemed like we were back to normal again. That is until January 1, 2022 when we received the news that someone was infected with covid at the gathering. I will admit we were not wearing masks and instead of keeping a distance, fatigue and human nature brought us physically closer to each other than scientific guidelines would dictate so there was reason to be nervous anyone could have come into contact with omnicron. As for me, I needed to clear a covid test to get on a plane to Brazil on Monday, January 3rd…
My testing appointment was scheduled for 8am on January 2nd and when I done the test a few weeks back and no one was there, today there was traffic getting in. The cases have been doubling daily now for weeks. I waited for results 10x more nervous about having covid than getting ready to run The Caminho. What do I do if I have it? Am I feeling a symptom right now? And, what happens if I don’t have it but then with the incubation period being up to 2 weeks get it later?
Test results=negative. For now, we move forward one step at a time. Caminho here we come!
