T-2 Days - Chapter 2
Family has left and we start a new chapter - Spanish Wedding in Madrid. Alex and Marta married at an estate outside of Madrid. The ceremony took place in a heavily wooded garden on the side of a stately mansion as Marta was ridden to the altar on a Harley Davidson motorcycle - something her departed father wanted for her. A casual ceremony followed that was led by her charismatic cousin and included speeches by another cousin who is a famous Spanish author and the “matchmaker”. Drinks followed in another garden and then dinner began at 10pm. Every detail was perfect, china, cutlery, glasses, the speeches all leading to the back yard where a riding bull was set up and dancing through the night that ended at 4am.
I developed a sore throat somewhere along the line and wasn’t able to sleep when we returned to rooms. Not good…
Gabe and Shelby arrived with Amy at the airport and shared a taxi to the rooms. Feeling bad, I decided to try running a bit and see if I could shake it off. No luck. Covid test is negative but it sure feels like it. Resting up today as we leave early tomorrow to get from Madrid to San Sebastián in the north east and closer to the Monday start of the Camino. Fingers crossed this resolves.
Cheers,
David.
