Day 3 - Wednesday, March 24
Day 3 stats: weight=165.6 (-3.4), 31 miles run, total 99 miles. Feeling 8 out of 10. Having done a dry run with Alex running from my place to Key West (500+ miles), I knew that the third day was a killer as the body hadn’t adjusted and it was the day i didn’t think i could go on. Last night i had a pain in top of right foot that was noticeable and i was so tired i couldn’t think straight. But, after passing out at 8:45pm, i woke up at 5am feeling refreshed and pain was way down. Moral to the story, a nights sleep makes all the difference in our minds and body. Another dangerous day on the road as I left Homeland and next stop 31 miles later was Waycross. All of this on US 1 and thundering trucks coming at me. I literally had to jump off the little shoulder 3x for wide trucks and people on their phones. Alex was forced to wrestle the steering wheel away from Lucky to get started as he wanted to do something since he couldn’t run. Pretty much ran along the Okeefenokee Swamp which must be as big as a state it is so massive. Alex supported along the way with 2 stops - the first being around 10am and i had gone 15 miles. I was so hungry i think i invented a new sandwich as i made toast, butter, raspberry jam and Brie cheese then washed down with 2 espresso’s for the next stage. First 2 days the temp was great - 60’s. Today it was in the 80’s and i felt it - probably part of the reason I’ve lost 3.5 pounds since i started. Nutrition is huge part of this adventure as typical day I’m expending around 3,000 calories along with base metabolic rate of 1,800 i need to replace 4,800 calories to stay on par. Try it some time, not so easy!
Sadly one of my target restaurants, Wong’s Palace in Waycross, is only take out. They have been a fixture here for 30+ years and COVID has not allowed them to re-open dining yet. No Ubers/Lyft in area so will sadly have to settle for what is in our immediate area - which tonight is a Walmart parking as there are no RV Parks in the area. Until tomorrow -
P.s. if you are looking for deals in today’s hot real estate market, look no further than Waycross, a 5/3 is on sale for $89,900!
